Poster PrintingAlthough there is no such thing as a standard poster size, the most common poster sizes are probably A1 (841mm x 594mm) and then also A2 (594mmx 420mm).
We mainly make use of 2 different processes when it comes to poster printing, digital printing and litho printing. Digital printed poster When poster are ordered in low quantities, for example less then 30 posters in the case of A1 and 60 posters in the case of A2, we make use of the digital printing process. The downfall of this is that as a rule it is very expensive to print low quantities, but the pro being that the lead time is about 2 working days which is quite a bit faster then 5 - 7 working days it takes to print posters using litho printing. We print these digital posters on 170 gsm semi gloss paper.
Litho printed postersIn this case we do the printing on 130 gsm gloss paper, unless you specify differently. There is no difference in price between semi gloss and high gloss paper, and where it concerns the price difference in the thickness of the paper, you can expect to pay 80c per square metre more for every exstra 10g the heavier the paper. Thus on A1 posters, the price difference between 130g and 140g posters is 40c per poster and in the case of A2 posters, there will be about 20c per poster difference. These posters can also be laminated, to laminate an A1 poster it will cost R00, and to laminate an A2 poster will cost R00. Posters can also be presented very neatly by mounting it on an aluminium shutter frame, which is available in all standard poster sizes from A4 to A1. Shutter frames for A0 posters (1189 x 841) can also be manufactured. Posters can also be displayed in aluminium shutter frames, which gives it a neat and professional touch. In this case the poster can be changed within seconds. If a request is made for poster to be applied on a thick board, we recommend the 3mm thick PVC corri boards. In this case we then recommend digital printing. Corri boards are very popular and practical and the prices are low, but there are lots of alternatives, like ABS plastic, komatex and even 10mm chipboard with a smooth melamine surface. Posters can also be printed on corri boards as a good and cost effective alternative, but then the order must exceed a certain amount of posters.
